Within the contemporary plastic panorama emerges the work of the Guatemalan- Chilean painter, Javier Azurdia (1961). After residing in Europe for almost 10 years, his renewed interest in Guatemalan traditional colorism, brought him to Guatemala in 1988, where currently resides. Azurdia revitalized the traditional oil techniques through his pictorical stratus technique.

Azurdia's work has been rewarded in Florence and Rome. He has exhibited in France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and the United States. In Guatemala, his art has delighted us on several occasions in galleries as important as the Ixchel Museum, The Attico, The Tunnel, El Sitio, and the National Fine Arts School of Guatemala (ENAP), among others.

His works can be found in many private collections in Latin America, Europe and the United States. After exhibiting solely in Europe between 1982 and 1986, Azurdia received a grant for achieving superior studies in the Fine Arts Academy in Florence, Italy, where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts (1986) and later a Masters degree in Art Restoration from the International University of the Art, Florence, Italy - UIA - (1987).

After being immersed for nine years within the digital world, Azurdia returns with a new proposal of forces and tensions, and a greater emphasis among the dynamics of colors. He presents a work that attempts to understand the lighting of color (illuminist), and tries to preempt these shades lighty through oil on a canvas full of texture and through his new digital art on canvas.

Dentro del panorama plastico contempoaneo, surge la obra del pintor chileno-guatemalteco Javier Azurdia (1961), despues de residir en Europa por muchos años, en 1988, su renovado interes por el colorismo guatemalteco tradicional, regresa a Guatemala, donde reside actualmente. Revitaliza las tecnicas al oleo por estratos pictoricos y velaturas, por lo que es primordialmente conocido.

Su obra ha sido premiada en Florencia y Roma. Su carrera lo ha llevado a exponer en Francia, Suiza, Italia, España y Estados Unidos. En Guatemala, nos ha deleitado en varias ocasiones en galerias tan importantes como el Museo Ixchel, El Attico, El Tunel, El Stito, la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas de Guatemala -ENAP-, etc.(1)

Sus obras se encuentras en muchas colecciones privadas de Latinoamerica, Europa y Estados Unidos. Entre 1982 y 1986 exhibio unicamente en Europa, becado realizo estudios superiores en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Florencia, Italia, donde obtuvo una Licenciatura en Bellas Artes (1986) y una Maestria en Restauracion de Obras de Arte en la Universidad Internacional del Arte, Florencia, Italia -UIA-(1987).

Despues de estar inmerso por 9 años en el mundo digital, regresa con una nueva propuesta de fuerzas y tensiones, mayor enfasis entre la dinamica de los colores, es una obra que trata de comprender la iluminacion a traves del color (iluminismo), trata de apropiarse de estos matices: las luces de los colores, oleo sobre telas llenas de textura, escenarios con mucha libertad sobre temas como el Pop wuj (La biblia Maya) en su trabajo digital, y sus sensuales cuerpos desnudos.

Après avoir résidé dans l'Europe pour presque 10 années, son intérêt renouvelé dans colorism traditionnel guatémaltèque, l'amené à L'Antigua Guatemala dans 1988, où réside actuellement. Azurdia a relancé les traditionnelles huiler techniques par sa pictorical stratus technique. Le travail de Azurdia a été récompensé dans Florence, Rome et Guatemala. Il a exposé en France, la Suisse, Italie, Espagne, Chili, et les Etats-Unis.

Le sien travaille peut être trouvé dans beaucoup de collections privées dans Amérique latine, Europe et les Etats-Unis. Après avoir exposé uniquement dans l'Europe entre 1982 et 1986, Azurdia a reçu une allocation pour atteindre les études supérieures dans l'Académie de beaux-arts dans Florence, Italie, où il a obtenu un degré de Célibataires dans les beaux-arts (1986) et plus tard un degré de Maîtres dans la Restauration d'Art de l'Université Internationale de l'Art, Florence, Italy-UIA-(1987).

Après avoir étant immergé pendant neuf ans dans le monde de ordinateur (digitale) art, Azurdia se retourne avec une nouvelle proposition de forces et de tensions, et un plus grand accent parmi la dynamique de couleurs. Il présente un travail qui tente comprendre l'éclairage de couleur (illuminist), et essaie d'anticiper ces lighty d'ombres par le huiler sur canevas plein de texture et par son nouvel ordinateur (digitale) art sur le canevas.
